Kenyan coffees can be outstandling delicious. Nyeri county, from which this coffee comes from, is one of the most sought after coffee growing regions in Kenya as it consistently produces some of the country's highest quality coffees. This is due thanks to ideal growing conditions, coffee varieties, and the meticulous handling of the coffee grown, harvested and processed by the farmers and workers.
This particular coffee is a AB screen size (Medium to Large Beans) and was grown by the Othaya Farmer's Cooperative Society, of around 500 members, and processed at the Mahiga wet mill. The primary coffee cultivars are SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian.
Notes of spice, dried citrus, red fruits and sugar come through nicely in the cup. Great for pour overs and filtered coffee brewing at home. Kenyan coffees, like this one, are known to have bright acidity, which makes the coffee more lively.
